The Treasures Aren't Always Furniture

If you have been following this blog since the beginning you know that this whole yard saling journey began with a $3 mickey waffle iron that we sold for $127 on ebay!  Well, believe it or not I found another mickey waffle iron...THE SAME ONE!!!  My hubby and I were at a yard sale and the owner must have been a Disneyland passholder for decades because they had Disney stuff coming out their wazoo!  We were looking around and I saw that someone had that waffle iron in their pile to buy.  I pointed it out to my husband and after the family paid we went to offer them some money for it but, it turned out that they didn't buy it and put it back!  My husband ran back and there it was....this time we paid $5...and made $100.  Within 7 days of buying it we posted it, sold it, and shipped it to Alabama!!

Here are the pics of this cute little waffle iron!  Who knew?

It's Been Awhile!!

It has been a little bit since I have had the chance to sit down and update my blog!!  The good news is that I have alot to share with you on what we have finished and sold.

The last time I posted I wrote about a Tiffany tall boy dresser that sold within a day....here is her shorter sister that has now sold as well.
 Sold $130

The next piece that sold was a curvy wide dresser....and it sold without hardware.  I had a hard time finding hardware that worked that wasn't going to break the bank so I posted it without hardware hoping that I would come up with a solution or sell it and we sold it!!

Sold $120

The newest piece that has sold just sold today and it is something completely different from anything else that we have done.  Its a retro style dresser that we made two toned.  What do you think?

Sold $150

In the last month we have completed a beautiful antique beige desk, that I kept, and I made my own custom chair. Pictures to come.  We are also in the middle of quite a few projects so more to come next week when they are done.

Tiffany!!

Okay, there is a new color in the mix now!  We like to call it our Tiffany Blue.  Awhile back I had someone ask if I could do a dresser in tiffany blue and of course I said yes.  But, unfortunately that deal never worked out.  Even though that didn't work out the color stayed in our minds for a future piece and we found it, painted it, and sold it!

This dresser was placed on craigslist on Thursday at 9:30am and by 10 I had a buyer!!!  Here she is...she is so pretty!!

Sold $150

The girl who bought this dresser loves it and strangely enough so did her boyfriend.  I have another piece similar in style to this one but wide instead of tall that I will be working on this week.  Pictures to come soon!

Time for our own Yard Sale!

We have been going to yard sales now for almost a year and of course not everything we buy sells...unfortunately.  We decided that we would have a yard sale this week with one of our neighbors who also refinishes furniture.  We both had just STUFF to get rid of!!  I feel so good because we only had to haul 3 pieces back to the garage.  I wanted to share with you some of the interesting stuff that sold.  The first sale was at 6:05am...it was still dark...the guy was seriously shopping with a flashlight!  Here is what he bought...
Yep! That's an antique pump organ...who would have thought it would be the first to go. But, let me tell you I am glad it did!  Here are some of the other pieces that sold...
Cute Ivory Side Table
Antique Vanity with Trifold Mirror(mirror is detached)

All in all it was a very succesful day of selling!  With the busy week I had I was only able to complete one project for someone who has purchased from me before.  She bought the turquoise dresser and has been looking for matching nightstands and I finally found them.  Here is the dresser and before and after pics of the nightstands.

Before
After

Now that I am down to only a few projects I should be able to finish stuff quicker, I have a habit of working a little bit on everything which slows me down.  Until next week!

The Final Touch!

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about that princess dresser that I loved so much I decided to keep.  The only problem was that now we had two beautiful dressers in our room but one very ugly nightstand.  It was Ikea and I tried painting and doing something different with it but it looked BAD!  Lucky for us we had a beautiful nightstand that had been sitting in our garage for weeks.  It was in really bad condition so it was one of the projects that kept being pushed aside.  Here is what it looked like when we started.

Let me tell you that paint must have been on there for decades...and there were a couple of coats of black paint under it.  It was a pain, but the hubby stuck with it and got into great condition for me to paint and here is what we have now.

Love, love, love it! (I still need to figure out what to put in front of that outlet!)  Here is what it looks like sitting next to the dresser.

Would you believe that these 2 pieces cost $60 together...with a little time and love we have transformed our bedroom!

Cute little dresser!

Today was very productive and I have another piece to share!!  I get so excited when I have pieces to blog about especially when there is more than 1 in a day!!

Okay, so when my hubby picked up this dresser I didn't love it at first.  This unfortunately for him is a common occurence in our yard sale excursions.  9 times out of 10 he ends up selling what he buys but I still wonder what he is thinking sometimes.  Here is the dresser before.

Now here is what it looks like!!!  I love it, its too bad it wouldn't fit in the little one's room but, I already have a buyer!!

Such a cute little dresser!!!  I am really loving the black hardware on the white furniture right now.  Until next week!  I have another piece that I kept to share...yay!

Change, Change, Change, Sold!

This title refers to a piece that I have blogged about before.  Do you remember this dresser?
Then it became this...

We changed the paint to a darker pink and the hardware to an bronze color...

Then we tried black hardware...

And when it still didn't sell my husband wanted to try a glaze technique to see what would happen and this is what we got....
And it sold!!!  When we first finished this my initial thought was, teenage girl.  That's exactly who it was bought for.  I hope she is enjoying her one of a kind dresser!  More to come after the weekend!

Vintage Look & Vintage Finds

This weekend was somewhat slow when in came to finding new pieces to work on, but lucky for my husband and I we have plenty of stuff that needs work in the garage.  I just finished this piece this morning and was so excited about it I wanted to get it on the blog right away.  It was quite a transformation.  Here is the before picture.

Very cute as it was but we did a complete transformation and here is what it looks like now!!

$75

I love this little side table...the decoration on the legs stands out so much more now.

We also love to pick up vintage items, not just furniture and found these this week which were really neat!

These are for sale too! $25 each

They would be great decoration for a room or better yet it would be a great photography prop!

Well, its done and I love it!  I love it so much that my husband and I decided to keep it!!!!  Here it is...

I have a friend that wanted to buy of but this piece was just too good to sell!!!!  I love that the furniture in our room is something we created!!!

This week has kept me busy because we have a bunch of new projects which is very exciting.  I just finished this bench and already have a buyer pending pickup.  I don't have before pictures but to give you an idea it was a wood frame with a blue velvet seat. Here is the finished product...

Now for some pictures of my work in progress right now.  This piece is so beautiful!  I can't wait until its done!  Here is what it looked like when we first brought it home.

Its a bit hard to tell but this is the mirror that goes on the harp on the dresser. For some reason I can't get the picture to turn on the blog...oh well.  When you see the finished product next week I will put it all together.  Have a great weekend!

It has been so hot and humid this week that I haven't been able to work on any projects.  This humidity does funny things to paint and stain!  So, since I don't have anything new yet this week I thought this would be a good time to mention that I do custom work!  I can find you a piece, change or update a piece you already have, or customize a piece I already have for you.  Here are some pictures of some custom work that I have already done along with some other pics of completed projects...

Sold for $50
Sold seperately for $130
Currently for sale $50
Available for customization or buy as is for $50

Better late than never!

Sorry for those who follow this weekly I have fallen behind a bit and didn't get a post up yet.  But I finished 2 projects and am excited to show you the results.  The first is a custom job that I am doing for a family friend.  She was looking for a dining room table and chairs and guess what color she wanted incorporated...yup turquoise!  Here are the befor pics!

Here is what they look like now...but the table is still unassembled because its easier for me to store, so you will have use your imagination!

This table is awesome because it has the wings and a leaf so it can be used for weeknight dinners as well as larger occasions!  Here are the chairs!
I hope she loves it!  I am actually bummed I am selling it.  On to the next one.

This next project has given me nothing but problems, small silly ones but, problems none the less!  Here is the before picture.
Here is what it looks like now...
For sale $175
Looking forward to the 3 day weekend!  Everybody stay safe and have a great Labor Day!
